This is an introductory level course aimed at those who come into contact on a regular basis with adults who are living with dementia. and for those who require knowing the basics of good dementia care.

Learning outcomes

The course will equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to provide person-centered care and support for people with dementia. By the end of the course learners will be able to:

  • Describe what dementia is and the main types of dementia.
  • Recognise the common signs and symptoms of dementia.
  • Understand how dementia can impact on communication and state specialist communication techniques.
  • Explain the importance of a person-centered approach to working well with people with dementia and their families.
